Both have had many years of experience in the care and teaching of children as well as raising six children of their own. Children and parents alike enjoy the peaceful, clean, open atmosphere of our centers.  We try to supply the children with the latest materials, toys, books and equipment for their learning and enjoyment. Our staff  have their NM State Child Care 45 Hour Training and also have continuing education classes year around. Each staff member has also been trained in CPR and Basic First Aid. Kid’s Kountry truly is a lovely place for children and their families.

MISSION STATEMENT:

“Kid’s Kountry provides a homelike environment for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.  We employ quality adult caregivers who receive continued professional training.  Learning and development are emphasized for the children here at Kid’s Kountry.  Our goal is to have a bright, clean, stimulating environment filled with the latest children’s activities and equipment.  We want children to feel independent and excited about childhood.  An atmosphere of friendly cooperation and courtesy are a priority for all Kid’s Kountry children and adults.”

GUIDANCE POLICY:

We encourage the children to obey the rules.  We try to have important rules that do not interfere with the enthusiasm and energetic nature of the young child.  Of course, hitting, biting and similar behaviors will be curtailed by first noting what motivated the problem and helping the offen</ding child to find another way of coping with his/her problem.  We do have a time out, which is used to remove the child from the conflict, to help them cool down.  Aggressive behavior is usually caused by: fatigue, boredom, hunger, frustration, or need for kindness and attention.

We look for the cause of the problem to help solve it.  Some children are aggressive because of bad habit.  Time out is meant to help break the habit.  Conflict in a group is inevitable.  However, we try to teach proper conflict resolution.  Real life skills such as:  Talking about how they feel.  Taking a walk or playing with someone else. Reading a book or doing an art project.  Being rocked or held. When a child says, “I want my mommy,” we comfort and explain that their parent will return soon.

PHILOSOPHY OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT:

Learning and development are emphasized at Kid’s Kountry.  We keep little minds, hands and bodies busy in many ways.  Our goal is to help them to feel independent, learn how to be courteous to adults and other children, and to be fascinated by the world around them.  When a child has a strong self-esteem and a lively curiosity as a result of a good home life and day care experience, then he/she will be eager and able to take on the challenges of school. Pre-reading/ writing and math skills are taught daily through age appropriate activities.  Our staffs attend workshops and have been trained in an excellent pre-school curriculum.

CURRICULUM STATEMENT:

We us age appropriate activities with the children at Kids’s Kountry. We believe that play is the most important work of young children. We are always changing and updating our toys and equipment, as well as art supplies. At Kid’s Kountry, we feel that the adults are facilitators of play, providing an interesting room arrangement, choice of centers and enticing projects. We help guide children in appropriate interaction with others. Courtesy and cooperation are stressed. Young children enjoy a routine because it makes them feel secure in knowing what to expect next. We also like to be flexible and spontaneous while still following a general structure.

All of the younger age groups of infants, toddlers and preschoolers have a circle time where we greet the children, play games, sing songs and tell stories. We have an atmosphere where children are encouraged to speak up and talk about a variety of subjects, thus using their language skills and developing self confidence in group setting. We have play centers, clearly defined, as well as learning centers which are changed weekly. We have a large play ground for wide open outside play. Generally we leave the door open so the children can free flow inside and out
